After YSRCP leader Vivekananda Reddy was found dead in his residence, party members alleged foul play. The special investigation team (SIT) has now questioned 20 people including the kin of the slain leader in connection with the case which is now being investigated amidst political slugfest between the TDP and the YSRCP.

Amaravati:  The Special Investigating Team which is looking into the murder of former Andhra Pradesh minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, have questioned the slain leader’s relatives. About 20 witnesses have been questioned so far.

The statements of all those questioned have been recorded in Pulivendula police station.

Those interrogated also include Reddy’s brothers Pratap Reddy, Bhaskar Reddy and Manohar Reddy.

Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter, son-in-law and brother-in-law have also been questioned.

Kadapa district Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma told reporters that 20 witnesses have so far been examined in the case and material evidence has been sent to forensic lab for examination.

In reference to the note allegedly written by Vivekananda Reddy, the SP said that confirmation from Reddy’s daughter and personal assistant was received about the handwriting.

More samples of the slain leader were collected, and they have been sent for forensic examination, police said.

"Apart from five special teams of the Kadapa district police, five of the Special Investigation Team, under the supervision of CID Additional DGP Amit Garg, were thoroughly investigating the case from all angles,” Sharma added.

Pratap Reddy, Vivekananda’s brother denied allegations of any rivalry between them over a mining business. He reiterated that he had anything to do with the murder.

“Yes, he did stage a dharna in front of my house some time ago but that’s something personal between us,” he told reporters in Pulivendula, after undergoing police questioning.

Vivekananda Reddy, younger brother of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, was found dead at his residence on Friday.

The death sparked a political slugfest between the ruling TDP and the Opposition YSRC. Both parties have levelled allegations against each other for the killing.

Police initially registered a case of unnatural death when Reddy's body was found by his staff but altered it to murder after post-mortem.

YS Vivekananda Reddy was laid to rest on Saturday in the presence of thousands of YSRCP activists.
