Nidigatla Mangaveni and her 11-year-old daughter was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten up after her neighbour’s family stripped them. Mangaveni’s seven-year-old son captured the whole event on a phone which now serves as evidence of the abuse.
Rajamahendravaram: A mother and her 11-year-old daughter was thrashed and stripped by a bank manager in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred at Dalit colony in Godavari district on February 25. The incident came to light when the victim lodged a complaint at the nearest police station.
As per sources, a fight broke out when the victim Nidigatla Mangaveni questioned her neighbour, Solomon Raju, a bank manager, and his wife for dumping waste in front of her house. After a while, the fight escalated, and the bank manger's children got involved. Later his children with their parents began to physically abuse Nidigatla Mangaveni. Upon seeing this, Mangaveni’s 11-year-old daughter tried to intervene, and in the melee Solomon’s family allegedly stripped the minor off her clothing.
It has also been reported that the mother and the minor were also tied to a tree and beaten up. Meanwhile, the woman's seven-year-old son captured the whole event on a phone which now serves as evidence.
A case was registered against Solomon Raju and his family under Section 324 r/w 34 of the Indian Penal Code, the sub-inspector said.
A similar dispute took place in 2006 between the two families. The police also said that the case registered against Raju then is still pending.
