FCRA guidelines require registered associations to submit electronically an online annual report with scanned copies of income and expenditure statement, receipts and payment account, balance sheet, for every financial year within nine months of the closure of the financial year.
Bengaluru: The ministry of home affairs on Monday has cancelled the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) licence of the famous Bengaluru-based NGO Infosys Foundation after receiving a request from the organisation.
According to the government rules, all NGOs will have to provide details of all foreign funding and income tax return every quarter. In case of any lapses, the MHA sends notice and after getting reply or non-receipt of reply, cancels the licence.

Infosys Foundation also got a notice last year. It is mandatory for all NGOs to register under the FCRA to receive foreign funding.
As per FCRA guidelines, registered associations are required to submit electronically an online annual report with scanned copies of income and expenditure statement, receipts and payment account, balance sheet, etc., for every financial year within nine months of the closure of the financial year.
Meanwhile, Infosys Foundation said its de-registration from the FCRA followed a request it proactively made to the MHA. "This (request) was done as the Infosys Foundation does not come under the purview of the FCRA following the amendment made to the act in 2016.
"We had approached the ministry to consider this, and thank them for granting our request," said Rishi Basu from the foundation's corporate marketing and communications division.
