According to reports, BJP will also launch a campaign for a month from December 26 to clear the misinformation being spread about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Swatantra Dev Singh, UP BJP president, said that the opposition has been spreading wrong information regarding CAA. He added that this misinformation has also increased the recent violence in the state.

The BJP had asked its MPs to identify and reach out to refugees from other countries living there and help them get Indian citizenship under the new Citizenship Amendment Act.

The CAA seeks to grant Indian citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi communities fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, and who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.
