Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to organise the 'Maha Sudarshana Yagam' at the temple town of Yadadri, for which Central government leaders, chief ministers of all states, besides religious gurus from Badrinath, Tirupati and Srirangam would be invited.

According to an official communique from the chief minister's office on Tuesday (July 30) night, it is said that Chandrasekhar Rao has discussed arrangements for the 'yagam' with prominent guru Tridandi Srimannarayana Chinna Jeeyar Swamy in Hyderabad, Telangana.

Speaking to media, BJP chief spokesperson K Krishna Saagar Rao said, “BJP believes, CM K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) is misusing his power. KCR is misusing public funds and tax payers’ money for his benefits. KCR wants to do a massive yagam again. But we have a few questions. Why are you (KCR) doing this with public money? And why are you (KCR) mixing religion with governance? If KCR wants to perform yagna/yagam at his residence with his money, we do not have a problem. But why with people’s money?”

It was decided that the 'yagam' would be conducted in Yagna Vatika (the area used for the Yagam) spread over 100 acres in the state.

The 'yagan' would be performed by about 3,000 Rithviks (Vedic pandits), assisted by another 3,000 people.

Religious gurus from famous spiritual centres, including Badrinath, Srirangam, Tirupati, (Puri) Jagannath, and also from other parts of the world would be invited for the event.

Central government leaders, chief ministers and Governors of all states, ministers and religious gurus from all traditions would also be invited, the CM's communique said.

The state chief minister also discussed the arrangements to be made on a large-scale as devotees in lakhs are expected to attend the event.

A famous temple of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy is situated at Yadadri, which is about 60 km from Hyderabad and the state government has taken up the shrine's renovation in a big way.
