Stunt master arrested for film shoot cylinder blast

Bengaluru: Following the incident of a cylinder blast at a film shoot, the stunt master, Subhash K has been arrested on charges of negligence. The blast that took place at the shooting spot of the bilingual film, Ranam, killed a 28-year-old woman and her five-year-old daughter.

A senior police officer said Subhash K was nabbed from his house at Kaggalipura on Kanakapura Road based on credible information. He was arrested in the early hours and taken into police custody.

Subhash has claimed to be an expert at rigging explosions during stunt action film shooting and has worked for several films.

He also claimed to be the only person in the film industry here to carry out blast scenes using nitrogen cylinders.

The police found that the stunt master had not handled the props properly. The cylinder was to cause an explosion between two colliding cars, the cylinder however caught fire, shot up and fell on the mother-daughter duo.

Meanwhile, special police team is searching for film producer and renowned Tollywood director V Samudra whose movements are being tracked.

The mother-daughter duo was watching the shoot at Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board in Mahadevakodigehalli village on Friday.

Meanwhile, S A Chinne Gowda, president of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, on Monday visited the family of the victims as well as the injured eight-year-old Zainab, elder daughter of the deceased Sumera, in a private hospital. He assured the family that action will be taken against the film crew and justice will be done to the victims.

The police have booked cases against the producer, director and the technical team of the film under various section of the IPC, including the Explosives Substances Act.
