Respite for Delhiites as ‘thunder-like’ weather brings relief from scorching heat

The MeT department said slight relief from the stifling heat is expected on Tuesday onwards due to “possibility of thundery development”

New Delhi: The hot and dry weather is likely to prevail in Delhi, though a slight relief from the scorching heat is expected in the next 48 hours.

The national capital noted a low of 29.4 degrees celsius at 8.30 am on Tuesday. The maximum temperature is possible to cross around 43-degree celsius, an India meteorological department official said. The hot and dry weather with appropriate humidity will continue with the sky remaining mostly lucid, he added.

The MeT department said slight relief from the stifling heat is expected on Tuesday onwards due to “possibility of thundery development”. The authorities also said that thunderstorm and lightning is expected in Delhi and its adjoining areas like Noida, Gurguram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.

However, in Rajasthan, the heat wave condition is likely to prevail for the 24 hours. 

“Similar weather conditions would prevail in the region till April 25. Places like Sri Ganganagar, Hunumangarh, Churu, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Jodhpur might experience dust storm activities followed by light thundershowers. During this period, there are chances that wind speed might reach 50-60 kmph gusting at 70 kmph,” added Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency.
