Railway pointsman Mayur donates reward to visually impaired mother of the child he saved

Synopsis

Mayur Shelke, the railway pointsman, who saved a child, has donated his reward to the visually impaired mother of the child he saved   

Bengaluru: In continuation of the good work that Mayur Shelke, the Railway pointsman, who helped saved a child, has now offered half the money he received as reward to the visually impaired mother of the child he saved. 

The railway ministry had rewarded him a cash prize of Rs 50000. 

He said, “These are difficult times of Covid-19 pandemic and all those who wish to donate money, hand over cheques to me can offer the money to the mother and the child or any other needy in these times,” on the social media. 

A note on the incident:  

In the video, the pointsman Mayur in Mumbai saved the life of a child who could have got crushed to death under an approaching train. He has been hailed as a hero.

The video shows a child, accompanied by a woman, walking at platform number 2. Moments later, he lost his balance and fell on the railway tracks. He would have got crushed under an approaching train. However, in no time, the pointsman came to rescue him.

Railway minister Piyush Goyal had tweeted his happiness thus: 

“Very proud of Mayur Shelke, Railwayman from the Vangani Railway Station in Mumbai who has done an exceptionally courageous act, risked his own life & saved a child's life.”
