Bengaluru: 70-year-old Kailash Chaudhary, who lives in Jaipur district of Rajasthan is a role model.

He has spent his life in organic farming, and horticulture.

It all began as he saw an advertisement. He says, “One day I saw an advertisement in the newspaper, in which the price of wheat of one company was 6 rupees per kg. Whereas, we used to sell the same wheat at the rate of only two rupees per kg. Then it came to my mind that what is there in this wheat that is worth it. The company's address was also recorded on that advertisement. The next day went to the businessman. And to understand the whole process, he also work there for a week. During this time I came to know that these people pack normal wheat after cleaning and grading and sell it at a higher price in the market”.

He took to organic farming in the year 2003. It was his friend who suggested to him to do so.

He adds, “Around the year 2003, a friend told me that by doing organic farming instead of chemical farming, the fertility of the land will also increase and earn. This is because people are now liking organic food and vegetables more. After that, I too started doing organic farming. I used to go to the nearby Krishi Vigyan Kendra. At that time an agricultural scientist told me that you should focus on horticulture. There is good earnings in this sector”.

Today he is farming on 20 acres of land and more than 50 products are prepared and sold in the market. Their products are sold on many big online platforms including Amazon, Flipkart. In many big cities they send goods by car. Also outside India, they are supplying their products in countries like Canada, America. He has received several awards for new innovations in farming.
