PM Modi speaks at IIT-Madras’ 56th convocation; says each student is a winner

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at IIT-Madras in Chennai to address the 56th Annual Convocation wherein he lauded the students for their achievements so far and said that their innovative camera will be quite handy to him, especially in the Parliament.

Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is well known for his sharp observations and fondness for technological innovations. Both these skills were at best display when he interacted with a young gathering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras on Monday.
 
Attending the prize distribution ceremony at the Singapore-India Hackathon Event hosted by the premier engineering institute, Modi particularly singled out one innovation regarding a camera that can detect whether someone is paying attention or not. Hailing the invention, he said that it will be useful in Parliament.

"My young friends here solved many problems today. I especially like the solution for the camera to detect who is paying attention. I am sure it will be very useful to Parliament. For me each one of you is a winner,” Modi said, much to the admiration of the young crowd which erupted in cheers and claps admiring the Prime Minister's remark.

Later he also did a walkthrough of the exhibition on IIT-Madras research park start-ups here. During the walkthrough, Prime Minister Modi keenly went through different science models presented by innovators and exhibitors.

He also discussed different ideas with the participants of the exhibition and thoroughly deliberated on the innovations that garnered his interest.

At a stall exhibiting clean water using nanotechnology, Modi applauded the efforts while suggesting further enhancements. A wheelchair with a detachable motor component to turn into a three-wheeler also grabbed Modi's attention, who enquired about its various aspects in detail.

Prime Minister Modi, who has time and again emphasised over increasing the usage of solar technology in the country, also appreciated different innovations using solar models.
