PM Modi in Aurangabad opens first greenfield industrial smart city; stresses on development

PM Modi took part in the programme organised by Empowered Women’s Meet of Self Help Groups in Aurangabad (UMED). More than half a million women attended the event.

AurangabadPM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10,000 acre Aurangabad Industrial City on September 7. This is India's first greenfield industrial smart city. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the signature building AURIC Hall alongside AURIC City. 

Modi, who is in Mumbai, visited an exhibition of handicraft wares made by women self-help groups, accompanied by Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and his ministerial colleague Pankaja Munde.

PM Modi addressed the programme which was organised by Empowered Women’s Meet of Self Help Groups in Aurangabad (UMED). More than half a million women attended the event.

Modi handed over an LPG connection to 8 crore beneficiaries under the Ujjwala scheme, which has reportedly paid BJP rich dividends politically.
He also gave away a similar LPG connection to one Nargis Begum, who was brought in from the troubled Kashmir for the same by the administration.

Meanwhile, PM Modi addressed people gathered at UMED. He saluted the women involved in the UMED SHG and thanked them for coming to the programme.
He added that the Centre is committed to ensuring that the LPG connection reaches every Indian. Narendra Modi said that the Centre and Maharashtra government are working jointly to address Maharashtra’s ongoing agrarian distress.
Modi announced that women can withdraw Rs 5000 any time if they need based on zero overdraft charges. Women will also receive loans up to Rs 1 lakh under Mudra Scheme.

He added that we’re committed to building homes, not houses. Committed to providing affordable housing for every poor’, said PM. "We have focussed on developing housing, based on the needs of the people from different areas," added PM Modi.
