BJP MLA from Ghaziabad, Nandkishor Gurjar has filed a police complaint against Anushka Sharma for offeding religious sentiments in the web series Paatal Lok

Bengaluru: Was it better and advisable for producer Anushka Sharma not to have ventured into making Paatal Lok?

Since its release, the series has garnered more criticism than praise, all thanks to the controversial underpinnings.

A few days ago, members of the Gorkha community lodged a complaint with the NHRC alleging foul, derogatory and pejorative against a Nepali woman. After that members of Sikh community too took umbrage at something similar.

Now, it is the turn of a BJP MLA to display his grouse about the series.

BJP MLA from Ghaziabad, Nandkishor Gurjar, lodged a complaint against Anushka Sharma, who is one of the producers of the series, and other makers, at the Loni police station. In his complaint, he expressed his objection about the show allegedly offending all communities of the 'Sanatan Dharm', showing Indian investigating agencies in bad light and using his picture without his permission while accusing the makers of ‘rahtradroh' (anti-nationalism).

The BJP MLA added that the Central Bureau of Investigation too was put on the spot while 'hurting Indian’s mission against terrorists,' as well as accusing the makers of giving ‘clean chit’ to Pakistani agencies and trying to rid it of its ‘terrorist nation’ tag.  He demanded that the show be pulled down immediately, as reported by Republic TV.

The story of the series is written by Sudip Sharma, Sagar Haveli, Hardik Mehta and Gunjit Chopra and directed by Avinash Arun and Prosit Roy.

Earlier, a few netizens were upset with the movie and had called for its boycott.

The viewers had even shared the videos and photos of a Hindu priest abusing two men, while a politician eats non-veg food with Hindu gods in the background

Anushka was even trolled for using imagery of Hindus as villains for her commercial gain following which #boycottpaatallok and #BoycottAmazon had trended on Twitter.
