NRI suicide: Pinarayi Vijayan-led Kerala govt gives clean chit to accused in case

The Kerala LDF government led by Pinarayi Vijayan gave a clean chit to NRI suicide case accused corporation chairperson PK Shyamala.  The deceased’s relatives alleged that the corporation chairperson did not provide sanctions to the convention centre built by NRI businessman Sajan Parayil due to personal vengeance.  

Kannur: The Kerala government has given a clean chit to NRI suicide case accused corporation chairperson PK Shyamala. The LDF government said at the court that there is no lapse on the part of Anthoor municipality.

The affidavit submitted to the Kerala high court, also says that the municipality demanded that the plan of the convention centre be changed as it found some errors.

Sajan Parayil, an NRI entrepreneur, committed suicide, on June 18, after being denied a permit to run his convention centre in Kannur, Kerala. Sajan worked in Nigeria for 15 years before he quit his job and returned to India. Three years ago, he started the construction of Partha convention centre in Kannur, Kerala.

The victim’s relatives alleged that the corporation chairperson PK Shyamala, wife of CPM central committee member MV Govindan, did not provide sanctions to the convention centre due to personal vengeance and thereby issued a notice to demolish the structure. His family told media that right from the beginning of construction, there were many hurdles.

Days ago, Beena Sajan, the wife of deceased NRI, submitted a petition to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, requesting a CBI probe into her husband’s suicide.

In the petition she stated that she has no faith in the ongoing investigation conducted by state police. She also alleged that the current investigation is headed in the wrong direction and is aimed at saving real culprits.
