The Shiv Sena, which condemned the call to boycott Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak, saying it would reflective of "Talibani mindset", now faces accusation from netizens for having double standards
Mumbai: Days after Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone's PR stunt in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) went viral on social media ahead of the release of Chhapaak, the Shiv Sena condemned calls to boycott her movie, saying that it is an act reflective of "Talibani mindset". However, if that is true, then netizens were quick to point out all the atrocities Shiv Sena had committed in the past.
Ahead of the release of Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat in November 2017, Shiv Sena had created a massive riot in the state and had burned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali effigies. The Sena leaders had also demanded a complete ban on the film.
That is not all, the Shiv Sena had also vehemently opposed the release of various films including Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan, Aamir Khan's PK, amongst others.
Netizens also did not miss a chance to point out Shiv Sena indulging in the destruction of public property.

In October 1991, the Shiv Sena workers dug up the Wankhede Stadium strip in Mumbai by pouring engine oil and prevented Pakistan from playing in the country. It was after this Pakistan's Tour to India was cancelled due to security reasons.
Recently, the Shiv Sena workers allegedly thrashed a resident of Wadala on December 22 for putting up an "objectionable" social media post against Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.
"On December 19, I posted that chief minister Uddhav Thackeray's comparison of Jamia Millia incident with Jallianwala Bagh was wrong. After that 25-30 people thrashed me and tonsured my head," Hiramai Tiwari had told reporters.
