National Commission for Women speaks to Assam DGP after MyNation report exposed molestation of a group of Bihu dancers on June 7 at a post-Eid celebration in Asolpara village of Kamrup district. The mob even tried to force the women to dance naked.
New Delhi: Following MyNation's report on the humiliation faced by a group of dancers in Assam on June 7, Rekha Sharma, chairperson of the National Council for Women tweeted on Monday, "Talked to DGP Assam just now. He said the FIR is been registered and 2 of the accuseds got arrested. Told him to do proper inquiry and arrest the organizers. NCW has taken suo motu and is in touch with SSP also. Will keep everyone posted.”

The manager of the dance troup, Arup D Rabha, filed a police complaint alleging that the cultural show organised as a part of Eid celebrations turned nasty for the dancers as they were also subject to stone pelting.

Arup, on Sunday, told MyNation, "We were shocked at their demands. They wanted our girls to dance without dress. We somehow escaped." On being asked what police action had been taken so far he said that two people were arrested but they were not told under what charges they had been booked.
