Jammu: Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna and three other Indian Air Force personnel were killed in a terrorist attack in Kashmir in 1990. After three decades, the TADA court in Jammu and Kashmir has taken up the case where Yasin Malik is the prime accused.

Despite Ravi Khanna's service to the nation, his name is not included in the National War Memorial. Thus BJP MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar has requested the PM's office and the defence minister Rajnath Singh to include Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna's name in the National War memorial.

"I appeal to @rajnathsinghji - Sqn Ldr Khannas name be also included in  @salute2soldier @FlagsOfHonour @PMOIndia," he tweeted.

Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna and three other Air Force personnel were allegedly killed by JKLF terrorist Yasin Malik. Khanna's wife Nirmal Kumari Khanna is fighting for justice for nearly three decades now.

Nirmal Kumari, who witnessed the death of her husband on January 25, 1990 told India Today, "Yasin Malik pumped 27 bullets into my husband's body. For more than 29 years, I have been fighting for justice and survival. But the successive governments failed me."

Reports claim that assailants led by JKLF terrorist Yasin Malik drove to the spot on a Honda motorcycle and a Maruti Gypsy. They fired from 2-3 automatic weapons and one semi-automatic pistol  and fled the place. Ravi Khanna and three officials died in the attack, while 10 were injured.

A report in this regard was filed by the then Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan’s adviser, Jamil Qureshi, stating that a J&K Armed Police post close to the spot had eight personnel, carrying eight .303 rifles and 400 rounds of ammunition. But there was no response to the same.

Yasin Malik is currently in Tihar jail in Delhi and was not produced before the TADA court. The judge issued another warrant and asked the Tihar jail authorities to produce him in the court on October 1, the date for the next hearing in the case.

Nirmal Kumari has demanded speedy trial so that Yasin Malik and other accused persons are punished for their crimes.

It can be noted that after the death of Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna, Nirmal Kumari did not receive pension for more than 4 years. She had to fight it in the court to get pension.

Nirmal, while speaking about Khanna's name being added in the National War Memorial, said that she is sure that she would not die before justice is delivered.
