Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Janapaksham Secular party led by Poonjar MLA PC George joined the NDA today (April 10). PC George made the official announcement at Pathanamthitta Press Club in the presence of BJP state president PS Sreedharan Pillai and BJP national secretary Satya Kumar. There was speculation, earlier, that George may lead his party in joining hands with the NDA as he had openly made a straight pitch by objecting the Supreme Court verdict on the Sabarimala issue.

PC George had also said that he firmly believes that women with some sense of decency would not take part in the state government’s movement – the women's wall.

George had expressed this view during his inaugural speech at the main conference of the Sabarimala Samrakshana Samithi at Kannanallur in Kollam district.

PC George and O Rajagopal, in the Assembly, had sported traditional black clothing to show support to Ayyappa devotees at Sabarimala. PC George had always been in the forefront fighting against the Supreme Court verdict which allowed women’s entry in Sabarimala.

“I am wearing black just for today. However, a decision about more protests will be discussed in the party meet,” PC George had said.

George told a private channel that the decision to join the NDA was taken unilaterally by the Kerala Janapaksham Secular, and that there was no objection from anyone in the party except one from Kollam who had expressed displeasure.

George said they decided to cooperate with the Front led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi considering his contribution towards the agricultural sector.

George also said that NDA candidate K Surendran from Pathanamthitta will win with a margin of 75,000 votes and predicted that the NDA will also win in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Thrissur.
