Karnataka phone tapping case: List of state’s 3 other cases CBI is investigating

Apart from the phone tapping issue, the CBI is investigating three more cases from Karnataka, while it has completed the probe in one case

Bengaluru: While chief minister BS Yediyurappa handed over the issue of phone tapping to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) let’s take a look at other issues from Karnataka that were handed over to the CBI and what their statuses are:

 

1. IAS officer DK Ravi death case

In March 2015, the death of honest and upright IAS officer DK Ravi had upset the entire state of Karnataka. The news made national and international headlines as well. While the common understanding was that he was killed mysteriously because of his sincere, loyal commitment to his work and his daringness to take on everyone, a CBI investigation concluded that he had committed suicide for personal reasons and was not murdered.

2. DySP Ganesh death case

The corpse of DySP Ganesh was found at a resort in Madikeri, in July 2016. At that point in time, fingers were pointed at the role played by Congressman KJ George and other police officers. The case was handed over to the CBI and the matter is still under investigation.

3. Techie Ajitabh missing case

A Bengaluru-based techie by name Ajitabh left his house in December 2017 to meet a car dealer and dispose of his car. But even to this date, he has not returned. A perturbed father approached the Karnataka high court, which handed over the matter to the CID. And when the CID didn’t find any success, the issues was handed over to the CBI. The matter is under investigation.

4. Sowjanya death case

A second PUC student at a local college in Dharmasthala, the body of Sowjanya was found in a semi-naked state near the River Netravati in October 2012. The CBI which was handed over the case for investigation by the then government has submitted a charge sheet. The trial is going on.
