Synopsis

After being suspended from Karnataka Congress, Roshan Baig addressed the media and questioned why no action was taken against certain other members within the party

Bengaluru: A day after being suspended from the Congress in Karnataka for his “anti party” activities, a disgruntled Roshan Baig addressed the media raising questions against the party’s standards.

Roshan Baig told media persons that he found out he was suspended from the party on June 18, and continues to stand by what he said.

“What I have said is true. I have not mocked Rahul Gandhi,” stated Roshan Baig. He further went on to say that Rahul Gandhi quit because of the party's performance in the Lok Sabha polls.

Baig questioned why no action was taken against those leaders, who worked against Congressman KH Muniyappa. “Why no action has been taken against those who worked for independent candidate Sumalatha in Mandya?” asked Baig.

The disgruntled MLA further stated that the party has to be transparent and that his statements are by and large the general sentiment in the party.

Baig concluded by saying that he has ensured a good majority for the Congress in his constituency and that he feels deeply sorry for Rahul Gandhi.

Baig is an MLA from Shivajinagar, who made it to the headlines after he stated several reasons for the Congress’s dismal performance in the recently-contested Lok Sabha election.

The suspended leader held former chief minister Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gudu Rao responsible for the “flop show” in LS polls.

According to him, Siddaramaiah’s “arrogance” and Rao’s “immaturity” were the reasons for the party’s poor performance in the recent election. He also called All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary KC Venugopal a “buffoon”.
