The prospect of three deputy CMs for Karnataka, will, in all likelihood, be a reality as the top brass, based on inputs from BL Santosh Kumar, has asked chief minister Yediyurappa to look into the issue seriously

Bengaluru: Fearing a rebellion by those who would not get portfolios of their choice, Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa has not dared to allot any portfolios.

For a long time there were talks that the top brass of the BJP would ask him to have three deputy chief ministers. And now, these talks have been confirmed as the top brass has indeed asked Yediyurappa to have three deputy chief ministers.

But why did the top brass (PM Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah, BJP working president JP Nadda) arrive at this decision?

Well, sources said that they decided to take suggestions of BL Santosh Kumar, the BJP national organising secretary, and based on his suggestions, the formula of three deputy CMs was mooted.

Sources say that though Yediyurappa doesn’t like this concept, he has been forced to nod his head in approval. Initially, the chief minister had strongly abhorred this idea.

Sources added that Kumar’s strategy to have three DyCMs, that too, those who have a strong RSS background, is to ensure that the party and its party body would grow stronger in the state.

And when this issue has gained more traction, several party bigwigs have decided to lobby for the post. They include KS Eshwarappa, Jagadish Shettar, R Ashoka and Sriramulu.

Top brass of the BJP had also asked Yediyurappa to meet Kumar earlier last week to decide on the names who would be inducted as ministers.

It’s also being said that Kumar was the one who recommended the name of Nalin Kumar Kateel for the post of Karnataka state BJP president. Sources said that Yediyurappa wanted Mahadevapura BJP MLA Arvind Limbavali to take over the reins.

The party top brass has a lot of respect for Kumar. That is the reason why he was elevated to the post of organising secretary. The top brass is also privy to the fact that Yediyurappa and Kumar don’t share a cordial relation. That is the reason they are trying to involve both in decision-making process.
