An elderly lady who was lost in Ardh Kumbh Mela in 2016 was found during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela

Bengaluru: Here is a story for the movie world. An elderly woman, who got lost at a Kumbh Mela in Haridwar in 2016, has been found at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, reports Times of India.

As Krishna Devi got lost in 2016, her family members searched for her, lodged a complaint and even gave advertisements, but it was of no avail.

Now, on a routine identity verification drive for the ongoing Maha Kumbh, it suddenly led to the 65-year-old woman in Rishikesh, now reunited with her family, the website adds.

Krishna Devi left home after her younger daughter died. “Her younger daughter had died. She left home to go to Haridwar. The Ardh Kumbh Mela was on,” sub-inspector of Kumbh Mela Police in Rishikesh Deepak Rawat was quoted.

Quite upset at the turn of events, she got disillusioned, and left home. It adds that she hopped from one shelter home to another, losing contact with the family.

“We had scoured all religious places, published her photos in papers, got ads aired on TV, but nothing helped. We filed a missing person report at the Udaipur police station. Every passing year, our hope dimmed further," her husband Jwala Prasad was quoted.

How she was found:

The police came across Krishna Devi as they carried out an identification drive. This, they say, is a regular drive. As thousands flock the place, their verification is carried out. It is at this time that the police found her at Triveni Ghat shelter home.
