Haryana poll: Datoli villagers boycott voting

Synopsis

People of a tiny village Datoli near Charkhi Dadri have decided not to cast their votes as their water-related problems are not solved for the last three decades.

Bengaluru: As citizens of Haryana and Maharashtra are casting their vote, people of a small village Datoli of Charkhi Dadri constituency have decided to boycott the poll.

The reason they state for having taken this decision is that the water-related issues of the village have not been solved for the last three decades.

Even though the poll officials have come to the booths, the people have not turned up, sources add.

This decision was taken in a meeting last week held under the leadership of Dayanand, a sarpanch.

The BJP is fielding wrestler Babita Phogat from the constituency.

Haryana has a total of 90 seats. On October 24, the results of the elections will be announced.
