PM Narendra Modi continued to puncture the tall claims made by the AAP government for the second successive day in the lead up to Delhi elections.
Bengaluru: Continuing his tirade against AAP for the second successive day, this time in Dwarka, PM Narendra Modi delineated on how his government has been working in the last five years.
He said, “For the last five years, the way the central government has been working is unprecedented; since Independence, this has never happened. The number of bank accounts opened for the poor has outnumbered the population of the US; Ayushman Bharat scheme benefited the number of people that outnumbers the combined population of Mexico, Canada and the US.
He added, “A country like India needs this speed in the development work. The capital of the nation, Delhi, too needs this kind of speed for development. This will solve a range of issues."
The PM also touched upon the issue of regularising colonies. He said, “People in Delhi government wanted to delay the issues of regularisation of unauthorised colonies. It is only because of BJP and its will power that today 40 lakh people in Delhi have their own houses and shops.”
The PM also underlined the importance of not working with an eye on the vote bank. He said, “Delhi can't be developed with politics of vote bank, hate; one should have intention of serving poor and take tough decisions to work for development.”
He also said that that his government was trying to introduce 'One Nation, One Ration Card' scheme to ensure that people who migrate to other states for work are not deprived of benefits.
On the issue of senior citizens, he said, “Our government started a scheme to provide monthly pension of Rs 3,000 for senior citizens.”
The PM also threw his weight behind the cops who were targeted during the anti-CAA protests.
“People in Delhi government used offensive words for policemen; they don't know that since independence, thousands of policemen have sacrificed their lives to ensure safety of citizens.”
Delhi goes to polls on February 8 and the results will be out on February 11.
