Leaving her well-paying job, Divya began helping her mother in the farm. Today, they earn handsomely
Bengaluru: For Divya, aged 30, life was a bed of roses. After graduation from Delhi University, she got a job in a multinational publishing house in 2008. She was getting paid well as well.
But in 2014, she decided to quit her job and do something different. That is when she decided to join her mother in Uttarakhand from the place of her working in Delhi.
Once she returned, she took up farming. She began to assist her mother. It is then that they decided to process fruits, vegetables and dry fruits in their fields.
Now, their turnover is almost Rs 30 lakh a year.
Fortunately, Divya’s father was green-fingered. He had set up his own field. So when she decided to join her mother, she knew what to do specifically. But unfortunately, her father passed away in 2014.
Divya says, “My mother used to prepare jelly, sauce etc and used to send it to me. Those who tested it used to demand it from us. Then I thought why not take this work forward so that my mother also gets support and I can live with her as well. After this I returned to Uttarakhand in 2014,” as reported by Dainik Bhaskar.
She has even launched her own website through which she advertises her products. She has a big customer base and is quite popular as well.
The website adds that, currently, Divya grows strawberries, Malta, oranges, nimbu, peaches, plums, apricots and vegetables. Whatever they produce in these farms, they process and produce different products. The products they do not grow, are procured from local farmers and supplied to the market after processing.
What is more heartening about her is that she cultivates on 20 acres of land and has employed almost 20 women.
It is such women who inspire all of us.
