Synopsis

Assam chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took to Twitter to condemn the blast and directed “DGP to immediately apprehend the culprits and ensure the security of common people.”

Guwahati: At least eleven people were injured in an explosion that rocked Assam’s capital city Guwahati on Wednesday evening.

The incident took place near Guwahati Central Mall in Zoo road at around 7-50 pm. Police say it was a grenade blast. A top police official said that miscreants had lobbed the grenade.

“We are now investigating it and launched an operation to nab the culprits,” the police official said.

The injured persons have been rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Assam chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took to Twitter to condemn the blast and directed “DGP to immediately apprehend the culprits and ensure the security of common people.”

Banned militant group ULFA-I has claimed responsibility for the blast.
