Earthquake with 4.8 magnitude strikes Bengal’s Bankura

Bankura: An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 hit Bengal’s Bankura district on Sunday. Bankura is situated in the southern part of the state.

According to the Indian meteorological department, the tremors were felt at 10.39 AM.

It was a medium intensity earthquake and the epicentre of the earthquake was 10 km below the earth's surface, experts said. 

There hasn’t been any report of casualty yet.

Just a day before, a couple of similar medium intensity quakes were felt but in the Andaman. They measured 5.0 and 4.8 on the richter scale.
