New Delhi: Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and Digvijay Singh may be the most bitter rivals who fought a high pitched acrimonious electoral battle, but their supporters are friends. Their polling staff who gathered outside the strongroom, where EVMs are locked, started playing antakshari to kill time.

Believe it or not this was the scene from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. A lady in purple who is deputed on behalf of the Congress asks the other group to sing with 'na' after singing confidently. The other side is the BJP who they fought bitterly over the last one month. But that doesn't stop the man in yellow stationed to keep a hawk eye on the EVMs on behalf of Pragya Thakur responding with a shy "na na karte pyar tumhi se kar baithe".

It's a rare scene of mutual admiration punctuated with laughter and sharing of pooris given the kind of campaigning Bhopal has witnessed recently. Congress cadres in the last leg went on a door-to-door campaign with an eye on women voters to appeal "not to get emotionally swayed by the tears of Pragya Thakur".

On the other hand, she has made the sufferings she has allegedly been subjected to at the behest of the Congress of which Digvijay was a crucial stakeholder, the thrust of her campaign. Congress didn't fail to raise her alleged role in Malegaon blast in response to that.

It has been one of the most bitterly fought campaigns this election 2019.  But the way it seemed to culminate outside the strongroom in Bhopal amid all the dust and heat of Madhya Pradesh, is something neither of the candidates envisioned.

As a lady in pink scarf wearing a spectacle gets ready for her turn to sing away the bitterness, the Tu Tu main main of the election seems to be a thing of the past.
