Delhi receives rainfall; residents celebrate on social media

Synopsis

According to reports, a meteorologist has forecast a cloudy sky with light rain later in the day today (July 4)

New Delhi: Mercury rose by a few notches in Delhi on Thursday (July 4) with the minimum temperature settling at 31.2 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the south-west monsoon has advanced into Delhi and other parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.

Taking the traces of rainfall as a sign of relief, several people took to social media to express their excitement and joy over the showers.

According to reports, the city received traces of rainfall in parts of Delhi for 24 hours till 8:30 am on Thursday (July 4). Lodhi Road and Safdarjung towers recorded traces of rain while the Ridge observatory posted 2.4 mm of rain.

IMD has forecast cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle later in the day, which is likely to bring some relief from the heat.

The humidity in the morning was recorded at 63% while the maximum temperature is likely to hit 38 degrees Celsius, a MeT report claimed.

However, on Monday (July 2) the maximum and minimum temperature was recorded at 39.4 and 29.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
