It might be recalled that on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump thanked PM Modi and the people of India for lifting curbs on the export of hydroxychloroquine. He said,

"Extraordinary times require even closer cooperation between friends. Thank you, India and the Indian people for the decision on HCQ. Will not be forgotten! Thank you Prime Minister @NarendraModi for your strong leadership in helping not just India, but humanity, in this fight!"

It wasn’t just Trump who thanked Modi.

Earlier, Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro thanked Narendra Modi for allowing the export of raw materials to his country to produce hydroxychloroquine.

Lockdown in India

Presently, India is under lockdown. It will go on till April 14. From sources, it has been learnt that the lockdown may be extended till April 30 with a view to contain the spread of the virus all the more.

The Prime Minister will make an announcement in this regard after he meets the CMs on April 11. In all likelihood, the lockdown will continue. Several states have asked PM Modi to continue with the lockdown. Even several health experts have opined the same.

Experts have also asked the people to wash their hands regularly and maintain social distancing. Union health minister Harsh Vardhan too has appealed to the people to follow guidelines issued by the government.

He even added that these are only ways available to keep the spread at bay.
