With a view to exposing Modi on the issues of CAB, demonetisation and farmers’ issues globally, the Congress spoke to Pakistani media in London, known to hate India. Whereas, in other parts of the world, the protests turned out to be a damp squib as the Congress could not help congregate at least a handful of people.
Bengaluru: It was a massive flop show by the Congress as its endeavour to malign the reputation of PM Modi on international platforms has boomeranged pathetically.
The protests, to be held in front on Indian embassies in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Oman and Saudi Arabia did not gather much momentum.
In London, as reported by Republic TV, a Congress leader of the Indian Overseas Congress group, began airing his views to Pakistani media. The TV added that it was only Pakistani media that reported the protest in London.
As per the report, the gentleman in question, President of the Indian Overseas Congress Kamal Dhaliwal speaks to the Pakistani media with mikes in his hand. But as the talk progresses, one from the audience comes out and takes away one mic.
The TV added that the other microphone, which he held, was of a Pakistani news channel - known for its anti-India rhetoric.
In its hurry to defame and mortify India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress had planned an international agitation to advertise Modi’s folly globally, on local issues, ranging from dangers being faced by women to demonetisation to farmers’ distress.
Though the Congress has the right to expose the ills of the incumbent government, its intent to expose Modi on a global platform, thereby harming the prestige of India is not just outlandish and ridiculous but speaks volumes about its strategy to harm the country’s image.
Incidentally, this is not the first time the Congress is resorting to such malpractice. Earlier this year, the Congress met English leaders and sought to talk to them against the abrogation of articles 370 and 35A, which was and is completely an internal matter of India.
The current protests hinge on the creation of Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) which does not allow Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to be made citizens of India on the grounds that Muslims can’t be religiously persecuted in India.
