As Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray compares JNU violence to 26/11 terror attacks, victims feel upset.
Bengaluru: In what comes as not just bizarre but precarious as well, chief minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray likened the JNU violence to the 26/11 attacks.
This is certainly not the first time that he has made such ludicrous comparisons. Earlier, during the Jamia Millia confrontation of cops with agitating students, he had compared it with Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Quite understandably, Devika Rotavan, a victim of 26/11 is upset. She said, "The two incidents cannot be compared. Those were suicide attackers who came from outside the country. They did not just kill civilians but policemen and an NSG commando. At least 166 people were killed in that incident. They did not cover their faces. Here these are our own people who have attacked. This cannot be called a terror act as lethal as 26/11."
"Eleven years have passed, I am still suffering. It sends shivers down my spine when I remember that incident. It is wrong to compare this incident to the 26/11 terror attack. The terrorists came from outside and waged a war against our country. The incident in JNU cannot be compared to 26/11 at all," said Baby Chowdhary whose husband had been bed-ridden since he was hit in the Vile Parle taxi blast, as quoted by India Today.
Uddhav Thackeray has really lost his sanity, as he makes such meaningless statements.
On the other side, when members of other parties too make such statements, especially on a revered freedom fighter like Veer Savarkar, Uddhav Thackeray has remained conspicuously mum.
A self-respecting, patriotic, Hindu-loving individual would have taken umbrage at the way a Congress booklet said that Savarkar had a physical relationship with Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi, the former AICC president had said that he was not “Rahul Savarkar” to apologise in relation to a statement which he had made on the floor of the Indian Parliament.
