Trinamool Congress members sloganeer against Union minister Debashree Chowdhuri during her visit to ‘Cyclone Bulbul’-affected areas. On Wednesday, Union minister Babul Supriyo had faced a similar protest during his visit.

Union minister Debashree Chowdhuri was on Friday greeted with "go back" slogans by a group of TMC activists when she visited South 24 Parganas to assess the extent of damage caused by Cyclone 'Bulbul'.

Chowdhuri said she was in the district to enquire about the ground situation post the cyclone, which claimed at least nine lives and left behind a trail of destruction.

Shortly after she reached Gosaba, a group of TMC activists stopped her convoy and raised "go back" slogans. According to sources, the agitators dispersed following police intervention.
On Wednesday, Union minister Babul Supriyo had faced a similar protest during his visit to the district to take stock of the situation in cyclone ‘Bulbul’-hit areas.

Supriyo said that he had been asked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the storm-affected areas in West Bengal, claimed that the agitators were activists of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Shortly after he reached Namkhana, one of the worst-affected places in the state, protesters stopped his convoy and showed him black flags.

The Union minister, despite clarifying that he was in the district to look into the ground-level situation, was asked to go back by the protesters.

"I knew I would face protests during my visit (to cyclone-hit areas). The agitators were all TMC activists," Supriyo said.
