Synopsis

Post abrogation of Article 370 and removal of special category status, 575 youths today joined Light Infantry Regimental Centre during passing out parade held in Srinagar.

Srinagar: At least 575 youths from Jammu and Kashmir joined the Light Infantry Regimental Centre during passing out parade held in Srinagar.

"Youths are interested in joining. They are not joining because they don't have any other job option. The vacancies are filling up quickly," said an Army officer.

After months of training and screening process the youths have passed out with flying colours. They will be joining their respective units soon. The passing out parade was reviewed by Lieutenant General Ashwani Kumar.

The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry came into existence in 1947 with an aim to check the infiltrators.
