Happy Daughters’ Day 2019: Women of India who have made their country proud

Wing Commander Anjali Singh became India's first female military diplomat. She took up the post on September 10. She was trained on a MiG-29 fighter aircraft. The 41-year-old officer is an aeronautical engineer who served with fighter squadrons during her 17-year military career.

27-year-old Anupriya Lakra hailing from naxal-hit Malakangiri district of Odisha became the first woman pilot from the region. After years of hard work, Lakra will join a private airline as a co-pilot.

Manasi Joshi is an Indian para-badminton player who has made India proud by winning gold at the Para-Badminton World Championships. The 30-year old defeated three-time SL3 world champion Parul Parmar 21-12, 21-7.

PV Sindhu became the first Indian to win the badminton World Championships gold by beating familiar rival Nozomi Okuhara of Japan. She also made to the Forbes’ list of Highest-Paid Female Athletes in 2018 and 2019 with earnings of $8.5 million and $5.5 million respectively.

Blossom Fernandez completed the Ironman triathlon in Denmark's Copenhagen recently. It is considered as one of the toughest one-day endurance events in the world. Currently there are less than 20 Indian women who have completed Ironman.
