India and Australia will face off in the first ODI at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium today (January 14). Here is India's likely Playing XI for the three-match series opener. Captain Virat Kohli had said that there is a possibility of all three openers Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul being part of the XI. If all three play, then Kohli will vacate his number three position.

1. Rohit Sharma. India's vice-captain Rohit will open the batting. He is one of the best players in the white ball formats. India will look to him for an explosive start with the Mumbai pitch likely to be batting-friendly.

2. Shikhar Dhawan. The Delhi left-hander is back in the Indian squad after being sidelined due to an injury. He was in good nick in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka.

3. KL Rahul. The Karnataka right-hander is likely to come to bat at No. 3 pushing captain Virat Kohli to number four. Kohli himself had said he is ready to relinquish his position to accommodate all three openers.

4. Virat Kohli (captain). Kohli is on the verge of equalling Sachin Tendulkar's record of scoring 20 ODI tons at home. Kohli needs one century to match the batting legend. He is likely to bat at No. 4 in Mumbai.

5. Shreyas Iyer. Local boy Iyer will relish batting at Wankhede Stadium.
undefined
6. Rishabh Pant. The wicketkeeper-batsman will be under pressure to score big and also impress behind the stumps.
undefined
7. Ravindra Jadeja. With Hardik Pandya not in the squad due to injury, the all-rounder's slot will be filled by Jadeja.
undefined
8. Mohammed Shami. The right-arm paceman was in top form in 2019. He will be hoping to continue in same vein in this year too.
undefined
9. Yuzvendra Chahal. It will be a toss up between Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav for the specialist spinner's slot. However, Chahal might get the backing of Kohli.
undefined
10. Navdeep Saini. Like Jasprit Bumrah, Saini too has been impressive with his yorkers in white ball cricket.

11. Jasprit Bumrah. It will be an interesting battle between Bumrah and Australian batsmen
