“Where is freedom of speech?” Sangram Singh, Indian wrestler and actress Payal Rohatgi’s boyfriend questioned the arrest of the actress

Bollywood C-list actress Payal Rohatgi has been sent to the Bundi Central Jail and will remain there until December 24, after the court rejected her bail application. She was arrested for sharing a video, which is allegedly defamatory and against the Nehru-Gandhi family.

The lawyer of Payal, who was arrested and sent to judicial custody said his client has the freedom of expression as guaranteed under the Constitution and that they will approach a higher court in the matter.

The complaint in this regard was filed by Rajasthan Youth Congress general secretary Charmesh Sharma in October at Bundi Sadar police station, following which police registered a case under sections 66 and 67 of the IT Act.

Wrestler Sangram Singh, Payal's partner, took to social media as well to request PM Narendra Modi to look into the matter. "This is freedom of Speech in Congress Ruling state, @HMOIndia @PMOIndia @narendramodi Sir. Please have a look this matter🙏" he wrote.

When MyNation contacted Sangram, he said, "Where is freedom of speech? Just because the state government is from Congress, they have arrested Payal. People like Kanhaiya Kumar, who spews venom at the government every day has been given protection, why not us?"

According to Sangram, a close source told him that Sonia Gandhi and her team had called the Rajasthan government and asked them to arrest Payal. He also said that he had worked with Delhi Police and such cases were not registered. “Then why is Payal behind bars for sharing a video on Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru and other Nehru-Gandhi family members?” he questioned.
