Prakash Raj has been warned of contempt of court if his Rs 2 crore cheque, which he paid to Essel Vision, a production house, bounces. Read details.
Mumbai: Actor-turned-politician Prakash Raj, who was all set to make his directorial debut in Bollywood three years ago, is now facing some challenges. The movie Tadka was announced in 2016 featuring actors such as Nana Patekar, Tapsee Pannu and Ali Fazal in the lead. But the movie has not yet released.
The production house, Essel Vision, a Zee Group company had taken the matter to the Mumbai high court for Prakash Raj’s non-payment of Rs 5.88 crore with added taxes. For which, Prakash Raj had signed an undertaking stating that he would pay off the entire amount, Rs 5.88 crore, to the production house by July 15.
The actor also handed over two of his property papers to his lawyer, Manish Vig, asking him to sell them off in order to recover the money. Prakash Raj finally arrived on Friday, August 23, with a cheque of Rs 2 crore and Essel has agreed to grant him the time till February 2020 to clear off the remaining money.
Another hearing will be held on August 30 to make sure that the given cheque has been cleared. And if the cheque of Rs 2 crore bounces then the noted villain of Indian cinema will face the wrath of the court.
