The popular South Indian film actor and model says she is excited and nervous to play this role

Actress Rakul Preet Singh has been busy shooting for a few movies like NGK, untitled Ajay Devgn-starrer, Karthi 17 and SK 14. And now, the actress is all set to join the cast of NTR biopic.

Yes, you heard it right! The NTR biopic is one of the most-talked-about projects in the Telugu film industry, courtesy its star cast and the interesting life of NT Rama Rao. The latest update is that Rakul Preet Singh has been roped in to play the role of late Sridevi, who has worked in about 14 movies with NTR.

The movie stars Nandamuri Balakrishna as NTR and Vidya Balan as Basavatarakam, his first wife. Rana Daggubati will play the role of Nara Chandrababu Naidu in the film. The movie is directed by Krish, who stepped in after Teja walked out from it.

Sridevi and NTR's popular movies include Rowdi Ramudu Konte Krishnudu (1980) and Vayyari Bhamalu Vagalamaari Bharthalu (1982). Certainly, the two have been a great part of each other's career, so it was essential to find the right actress to play Sridevi.

Now it seems like the producers have found their fit.

In an interview with TOI, Rakul said, “This is going to be the most challenging character I’ve played so far because Srideviji is a legend. She was and is still loved by millions. I have been a big fan and recreating the diva on screen for the first time is a big responsibility. I hope I can do justice to it. The makers have full faith in me and I hope I can live up to it.”

Rakul also talked about her preparation for the part. She said, “Unfortunately, I never met Srideviji, but I am going to be watching a few of her films as suggested by the makers, to get the body language right. I will be working on my role and there will be a series of look tests to get the part right. On the whole, I am really excited about the project and I know all eyes will be on me because for the first time someone is going to play Srideviji in a film. I was really excited when I heard the part and the role has shaped up really well. I am going to do extensive homework before I start shooting for the film.”

Even though it is a small part in the biopic, Rakul is seen keen and excited to play Sridevi and we can't wait to see how it unfolds.
