The Madras high court will give its verdict on Sarkar plagiarism row today, October 30. Tamil actor Vijay and Keerthy Suresh's film is all set to release on November 6.

Chennai: The Madras high court will decide the fate of Kollywood star Vijay's Sarkar on October 30 with the South Indian Writers' Association (SIFW) backing the budding filmmaker Varun Rajendran, who made plagiarism allegations on director AR Murugadoss.

AR Murugadoss’s Sarkar is reportedly similar to director Varun Rajendran’s Sengol and on Sunday, October 28, the SIFW had ruled that the storyline of the two films were indeed similar.

Later, Murugadoss slammed director-writer K Bhagyaraj, who heads the association of unfair treatment. Murugadoss opened up about the issue to Behindwoods and said, “I think the investigation is one-sided. Bhagyaraj claims that my story is very similar to Sengol. Let me ask him, did he read my full-bound script of Sarkar? They claim to have read the full script, but they only read the synopsis.”

The court is expected to pass its verdict after hearing the stories from both the sides. The crew of Sarkar is wondering how much SIFW's stand on the issue will impact the case.

Tamil filmmaker Varun Rajendran has filed the petition stating that the story of Sarkar has been stolen. He claims to have registered the story with the South Indian Writers' Association in 2007 and makers have taken the idea without his consent.

Varun is now seeking a ban on Sarkar. What has given a fillip to his claims is that the SIFW has lent its support to Varun Rajendran, who has written the story Sengol.

In an interview,  K Bhagyaraj, the president of South Indian Writers' Association, revealed the complete story of Tamil actor Vijay's Sarkar and also said that he found out similarities between both the stories. "I felt the story had similarities and spoke with AR Murugadoss about it. As I have become the President of SIFW for the first time, I did not wish to create unnecessary controversies and tried for a compromise."

Sarkar is scheduled for release on November 6 on the occasion of Deepavali festival. The makers need the court's verdict at the earliest as it will pave the way for advance booking of tickets for the film.

AR Murugadoss's Sarkar is an action thriller produced by Sun Pictures. Keerthy Suresh plays Vijay's love interest, while Varalaxmi Sarathkumar will be seen in a key role.
