Cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul found out the real price of making sexist comments on national television as BCCI orders them to pay the Rs 20 lakh fine within four weeks. Here's why netizens aren't too happy with the development
New Delhi: What started as yet another normal, irreverent episode of filmmaker Karan Johar's talk show, soon turned into a national debate. In a first of sorts, Johar invited cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on the Koffee With Karan show and their comments on the show irked many for their blatant sexism.
In a quick damage control move, the two players were suspended for a bit and now, BCCI has ordered Pandya and Rahul to pay Rs 1 lakh each to widows of 10 constables in paramilitary forces who lost their lives on duty. They have also been asked to deposit Rs 10 lakh each in a fund for the promotion of cricket for the blind as fine for their misconduct in the show within four weeks.

The order published on the official BCCI website, also said that no further action will be taken against the two. For the uninitiated, take a look at what the duo really said:
On the show, Pandya boasted about hooking up with multiple women and spoke about how open he is with his parents, saying he had once told them after losing his virginity, "aaj mai kar ke aaya." When the host of the show asked him why didn't he ask women their names in a club, Pandya responded by saying, "I like to watch and observe how they (women) move. I'm little from the black side so I need to see how they move."
Pandya tweeted an apology and claimed that he 'got çarried away'. But many netizens are terming the fine as just a slap on the wrist. Instead of a mandatory behavioural counselling, the duo have been let off by paying for their comments proving the adage- Life is sunny when you have money.
