Budget 2019: Piyush Goyal praises Vicky Kaushal's Uri, introduces anti-camcording provision

Synopsis

Finance minister Piyush Goyal says anti-camcording provision will also to be introduced to Cinematography Act to fight piracy

New Delhi: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, it is expected that the Budget will focus on concessions and give a big push to invest in agriculture, industries health sector, employment and entertainment industry.

During his budget speech, finance minister Piyush Goyal said, the entertainment industry is a major employment generator. So, to promote the entertainment industry, single window clearance will be introduced to ease shooting for films. This clearance was earlier available only for foreign films and will now be available in India for Indian cinema/filmmakers as well.

He added, "We will also introduce an anti-camcording provision to Cinematography Act to fight and control piracy. We all love watching movies and this has given many job opportunities across India whether it is in Telugu films or Bollywood."

BJP leader LK Advani who was sitting next to Piyush Goyal reminded him about the recent Bollywood movie Uri:The Surgical Strike during his speech. This prompted Goyal to go in fanboy mode over the Vicky Kaushal starrer, saying, “Recently, I got an opportunity to watch Uri. What fun it was! There was such josh in the theatre.” His admission encouraged the entire house to start chanting, "How’s the josh".

BJP leaders and actors Paresh Rawal, Kiron Kher were all smiles post the entertainment budget.
