Providence (Guyana): Veda Krishnamurthy (pictured) and Jemimah Rodrigues scored half centuries as Indian women routed West Indies women by 61 runs to complete a 5-0 clean sweep of the Twenty20 International series on Wednesday (November 20).

At the Providence Stadium in Guyana, India won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost Shafali Verma (9) and captain Smriti Mandhana (7) cheaply inside the opening four overs.

From 17/2 in 3.1 overs, India recovered thanks to the 117-run partnership between Veda and Jemimah. Veda hit an unbeaten 57 off 48 balls with four fours while Jemimah scored 50 from 56 balls with three fours.

In reply, West Indies were restricted to 93/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Off-spinner Anuja Patil took two wickets for three runs in her three-over spell. Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav, Pooja Vastrakar and Harleen Deol picked up one wicket each.

For the hosts, Kyshona A Knight was the top-scorer with 22 runs. The next best was 19 from Shemaine Campbelle.

Earlier in the three-match ODI series, India had claimed the trophy with a 2-1 verdict. Next, India play a T20I tri-series in Australia in January 2020. India, Australia and England are the three teams in the tournament starting on January 31 in Canberra.
