On November 15, 1989, Sachin Tendulkar made his Test debut. Today marks 30 years since that special day
Bengaluru: It has been 30 years since batting legend Sachin Tendulkar made his Test debut, against Pakistan. Now, the former India captain has returned to bat once again, on his special day today (November 15).
The 46-year-old Tendulkar took to the micro-blogging website Twitter to post a video of himself batting at an indoor stadium. And, the fans are loving it.

— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt)On November 15, 1989, Tendulkar, at the age of 16 years, made his Test debut against Pakistan in Karachi. He made 15 runs, batting at number six. In the same match, paceman Waqar Younis too made his five-day cricket debut. The contest ended in a draw.
The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) official Twitter handle too remembered Tendulkar and Younis’ debuts. It posted a picture of both with the caption, “#OnThisDay in 1989, Sachin Tendulkar and Waqar Younis made their international debuts as teenagers. The rest, as they say, is history.”

Tendulkar went on to break several records in his illustrious cricket career. He retired in 2013 after playing in a world record 200 Tests. He is the only batsman to have hit 100 international centuries.
Even to this day, cricket fans miss “God of cricket”. After retirement, he has been associated with the game with Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and also does TV commentary.
Yesterday, he had said that the standard of cricket had gone done and there were not many world-class bowlers at the moment.
“The standard of cricket has gone down which is not great news for Test cricket. The standard needs to go up and for that, I would again say that the root cause is the playing surfaces,” Tendulkar said.
