Bengaluru: Global Investor’s Meet (GIP) was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.

The meet aims to brief investors about the opportunities available for them in the state.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister stressed that such meets are happening everywhere in the country.

He said, “Earlier, investors’ summit like these used to happen in just a few cities in the country. The situation has changed today. Every state today is competing to attract business and investment.”

The PM also sounded a little surprising as it was being held in a place like Dharamshala.

He said, “The GIM in Dharamshala may sound a little baffling, but it is the truth. It is unprecedented and I congratulate all of you.”

Urging the governments to take part in such meets in a competitive bent of mind, the PM said, “A positive competition can be seen among the states. The governments are taking initiatives and are removing unimportant mechanisms.”

The PM also stressed on the importance of Ease of Doing Ranking in India. He said, “The massive jump in Ease of Doing Ranking for India isn’t just a statistical change. It means out government is taking decisions that have helped the industrial grassroots mechanism get better. This is not just a jump in Ease of Doing Business rankings, but a revolution in the way business is done in India.”

Ahead of the PM’s visit to the state, a security blanket had been thrown over. 24000 personnel were on guard, with the SPG already in action to protect the PM.

The Himachal Pradesh government has appointed Bollywood actress Yami Gautam as the brand ambassador for the meet.
