Silver jewellery can begin to lose its shine over time. It can oxidize after use which can darken the jewellery. If you are wondering how you can easily clean them at home rather than taking them to a shop every time they lose their shine, then try these methods. Here are five methods to make your old silver jewellery sparkle like new without any cost.

Besan

Make a solution by mixing a small amount of water with besan (cornflour). Apply this mixture to your silver anklets, toe rings, chains, necklaces, earrings etc, let it sit for some time. After the mixture dries, rub the jewellery with a brush to clean it. Your silver jewellery will come out shining like new.

Tomato ketchup

It may sound surprising, but yes, you can use tomato sauce for cleaning silver jewellery. Simply apply some tomato ketchup on the silver jewellery and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, clean it with water after rubbing it with a brush.

Old medicine wrappers

Old medicine wrappers can also be used to clean silver jewellery. These are made of aluminium foil, which can react with silver and clean it. To try this method, place the wrappers in water, boil them, turn off the gas, and then put the silver jewellery in the solution for 15-20 minutes. You’ll notice a difference in the shine of jewellery.

Sanitizer

Sanitizers can also restore the shine of your silver jewellery. Start by soaking the silver jewellery in sanitizer for 5-10 minutes, then gently rub it with a brush and rinse with water.

Tea leaves

Make a solution by boiling one teaspoon of tea leaves in a cup of water. Next, add one spoon of baking soda to the mixture. Put the silver jewellery in the solution and let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Scrub the jewellery using a brush. This will effectively restore the shine of silver jewellery.
