TRAI issues new rules for sim porting, effective from July 1

If your SIM card is lost or damaged, you’ll need to wait a bit longer to receive a replacement as per new TRAI guidelines. 
 

Previously, if your SIM card was lost or damaged, you could get a replacement immediately from a store. However, now that period has been extended. 
 

Now, users will have to wait up to 7 days to receive a new SIM card. 
 

As per new MNP rules by TRAI, users will have to wait for 7 days before they receive a new SIM card. 
 

TRAI is implementing new changes to the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) rules effective from July 1. 
 

TRAI issued the new guidelines on March 15, 2024. Several measures have been taken to reduce fraud related to mobile services.
