Jyoti to Ganesha: Know the 8 children of Lord Shiva

Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. The elephant-headed God is believed to be the remover of obstacles in life and is known as 'Vighnaharta'. 

Lord Karthikeya is known as the God of war. He was born from the divine fire and led other gods to defeat the demon Tarakasura. This symbolizes the win of good over evil. 

Ashok Sundari is the daughter of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. She is mentioned in the Shiva Purana and was created by Kalpavriksha to cure Parvati's loneliness. 

Goddess Jyoti was born from a spark from Devi Parvati's forehead. She is the symbol of divine light and wisdom. Goddess Jyoti is worshipped in South India. 

Ayyappa is the son of Lord Shiva and Mohini (Lord Vishnu). Ayyappa is a powerful God mainly worshipped in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and is believed to protect everyone from evil. 

Jalandhar was born from the essence of Lord Shiva and became a fierce demon king and an enemy of Shiva. He was ultimately defeated by his father. 

Sukesh was abandoned by his parents. Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati protected and adopted him. He is also considered one of the children of Lord Shiva. 

Andhak was born out of darkness when Parvati covered Lord Shiva's eyes. Andhak's blindness represents the consequences of disturbance of a meditation.
