Who built it?

The information about under whose reign the fort was built is unknown. It is believed to have been built in the 7th century by the Maurya dynasty. The fort was captured by Akbar.

Four palaces

As per reports, the fort boasts of 65 incredible structures. There are 4 palaces, 19 temples, 7 gateways, and 4 monuments. It was home to a population of 1 lakh people.

Reservoirs

Originally, Chittorgarh fort had 84 water bodies. These reservoirs served over 5,000 soldiers for up to 4 years. However, currently, only 22 water bodies remain.

Maharani Padmini Palace holds a special significance in the fort. It is situated in the midst of water. Even today, it retains its exquisite beauty.
