Women in Sarees: 53-year-old runner Kranti Salvi is a record holder

Kranti made a Guinness World Record by completing a marathon in a saree.

Kranti Salvi graduated with a degree in Computer Science Engineering. She worked as a director at Alpha Group of Company.
 

Kranti got married early, and helped her husband manage their business.

Kranti has been athletic since childhood. She used to participate in competitions in her school, Sanjeevan Vidyalaya. 

In 2011, she got her 6-year-old son admitted in an athletics school and herself got trained in trekking. 

In 2012, Kranti achieved a significant milestone by securing a spot among the top five women in the 21-kilometre half marathon in Mumbai. 

In 2013, Kranti competed in the full marathon, and emerged as the champion.

Kranti made the Guinness World Record for completing marathons in a saree. She has won 14 international full marathons and Mumbai Road Runner Ultramarathon award. 

Since 2018, she has been the Mumbai Pinkathon Ambassador. She encourages women to participate in these fitness competitions.
