Ekta’s inspirational journey to embracing her true self

Ekta was originally born as a male and was named ‘Virendra.’ However, she could never identify as a man.

She did her graduation from Lakhimpur.

When Ekta confided in her mother and sister about her feminine traits, they strongly opposed her.
 

Ekta’s mother and sister could not comprehend her feelings. Due to the lack of support, she made the decision to leave her home. 

Ekta found a community of people in Lucknow who shared her experiences and feelings.

Ekta changed her identity as ‘Virendra’ and adopted the name ‘Ekta Maheshwari.’

Ekta embraced her true identity as a woman. She transitioned into a trans woman and felt confident wearing sarees. 

Ekta established an NGO called ‘Ekta Seva Sansthan,’ aimed at providing support and services not only to the transgender community but also to others in need.
